Who Am I?

Who Am I?

Who is Christian Bond? One question of four words, with an answer that is twenty years long. Currently, I am a second-year student at Pacific Lutheran University. What got me to this point? Where am I headed? Throughout this article I will introduce myself and answer those questions.

I value my family as much as anything in my life. My immediate family consist of my mom, dad and brother. My parents do everything they could to supply me with everything I need. The only time I truly cooperated with my brother is when I named him. My parents still did not have a name for him after he was born. I had learned the story of Jonah and the Whale in Sunday school earlier in the week. I suggested Jonah. My dad agreed, but my mom was having none of it. In the end, I got my way. Jonah is someone I don’t always get along with, but I appreciate his sense of humor and personality.

I went to a small private school close to my home. Along with my parents, Holy Trinity Lutheran School, and Evergreen Lutheran High School have molded me into who I am today. Some people think that going to school with the same ten people for your whole life would get boring. I was able to create relationships that I know will last a lifetime. I thank God for them everyday.

Sports have been a constant in my life, baseball in particular. Growing up I spent a lot of time playing baseball. I never grew out of the sport. My passion for the game has led me to pursue a career in journalism. Covering baseball would be a dream come true.

My family, my past, and my passion have lead me to Pacific Lutheran University. The campus is close to home. This helps me keep in touch with my family. They are a support system that I did not want to distance myself from. Coming from a small school, I appreciate small class sizes. Being able to build relationships with professors will help me further my own education. PLU is a a great school for people who graduate with a major in communication. I am here to push myself so that my diploma is more than just a piece of paper.

Ultimately, I have no idea where I am headed. All I can do is my best at whatever is thrown my way. I will end up where I am supposed to be. For now, I am a twenty year old college student, trying to figure it out.
